Artist Statement
Jewellery that is informed by the desire to explore colour, texture and form. Primarily this is taken from my research drawings and photography which focus on my intrigue for something foreign, my travel expeditions to museum artefacts, subjects that depict an interesting construction and a timeworn appearance.
I attempt to construct these forms in an abstracted way through the folding and manipulation of a single flat surface. Using both traditional and contemporary techniques, I work with enamel to build on the metals surface. This, integrated with my own mark making which captures the drawn qualities of my research, is channelled into creating a surface that has a quality that is both engaging to the touch and to the eye.
